Straits Times Reflections T3 W4

Home Section Page 1

Hawkers fall prey to brazen break-ins.

1a) Why is it easy for burglers to break into stalls at the two markets in the Kallang area?

Ans:They just need to climb on the pipes or the metal bars on top as the units are expose and the metal bars on top make it easier for burglars to get in

1b) What is the Geylang East Central Merchants' Association going to do about the break-ins?

Ans:They look into improving and developing the security standard by changing the stalls' layout and design.

2. What do you think should be done to tighten the security of the markets? What do you think of the burglars who brazenly break into the stalls?

Ans:Installing cctvs and getting rid of the metal bars and pipes so that the burglars will not be able to climb in so easily.
